Brightest Faith: Question #7
12.26.03 (10:32 am)   [edit]
i'm not sure if this is supposed to be a joke or not?

discussing religion is just asking for trouble no matter how good your intentions are.
No jokes and all that I am doing is answering questions. The word religion is mentioned very few times in the Holy Bible. Don't think of it as a system of believing in something. Think of it more as your reality. God wants you to see the world through Him.

i think you are doing a good thing issac. heh, why shouldnt one be able to discuss their religion? isn't it done in colleges if you take a religion class? Besides Christianity is not a religion.

I agree with you, Isaac! Christianity is not a 'religion'..it's a relationship;-)
Anyway, I just want to thank you SOO much 4 keeping me and Joe in prayer! It really means a LOT to me. The day after tmow is the BIG day! I'm so excited and i know that the Lord will be right there with me, holding my hand as Joe and I meet face to face for the first time:-)
I'm so glad that my story touched your heart!

God Bless!!

Although the word "religion" isn't mentioned that much in the bible, that is the word that has been placed on people's beliefs in this time.
God not only wants you to see the world through him, but to do what he requires of us, as stated in his word - the bible.

Hey you! :D And yer right about the religion thang. Matter of fact, I personally dislike the word. I'm of the Christian faith, and I have seen it really turn people off when you give them words such as "religion" to try to describe God's love for them.

'Course what am I saying here... I haven't been to church in forever, and have kinda lost focus. But I want to work harder at getting back into my relationship with God.

Peace, lurve 'n hugs!

The three defining factors making something a religion are dogma (which includes the belief and worship in a God or gods), rituals, and a moral code. So I'm pretty sure Christianity is, in fact, a religion.

You're judging it based on the restrictions of man. But man has a lot of problems. Imperfection and being ruled by sin being among them.
What is within God's words is reality. I cannot divide 'religion' from math or from biology or from what's taught at school. It's all one and there is no division. What is in God's words is at the top and everything else branches off.
Everything.
And I don't judge Christianity based on your list of terms. I don't judge it at all. And I don't judge 'other religions.' Because that's not what God wants us to do.
And a person that is without the Spirit wouldn't understand this.

Of course I'm judging it on 'the restrictions of man,' how else would one logically define religious belief? You profess that God's words are reality, but how do you know that? What concrete evidence is there to support this?

"And a person that is without the Spirit wouldn't understand this."

I suppose that must be it.
