When I was little, I recall riding home from my grandparents' on Christmas Eve, thinking about Santa. I was looking up at the sky, watching the stars (as I always did), when I saw Santa's sleigh dash across the sky. No one could have convinced me that that wasn't Santa that I saw, because I had such a strong will to believe that it was him. posted by: Isaac (reply) post date: 12.21.03 (4:43 pm) Yes. Or it could actually be God. Something similar happened to me once, also. As a boy, I fell asleep one night and dreamed that Jesus appeared before me. He was a white man with a crown of thorns on his head. Then he allowed me to ask one question before he would leave. Since it was a dream and you can't really think in a dream, I asked him, "did you know my ancestors before me?" He said yes and left. When I woke up I told my mum all about it, but when I tried to remember what he said I forgot everything. Later I determined that it wasn't really a dream that God inspired but a dream I forced upon myself because I saw paintings of Jesus Christ somewhere and wondered why he was wearing a crown of thorns in them. I must have needed some sleep and had REM sleep on the last thing I was thinking about that night. But you know what? Maybe it was a dream inspired by God. And maybe I intentionally forgot the things that Jesus told me in the dream because I wasn't meant to know them, but the words were meant to guide me. Can you determine? Not really. I believe that it was just a dream because if it was inspired by God I would have known it for certain. But then again, many years have passed since I had that dream and I can't determine if I was certain of it or not. Makes me think. |
