Team Hope today...

Went out with Team Hope again today. We were in downtown Baywalk. Marley and I were in a group going to the Pier. The Pier is one of Saint Petersburg's popular tourist attractions. We walked to the Pier and it was so windy and so cold, and we headed around the periphery. Since it was so cold, not as many people were fishing. We went all the way to the other side of the Pier (which is extremely long), and we stopped to talk to one guy fishing. The lady in our group handed him a tract and he handed her a tract! They were out there doing the same thing. They knew Wayofthemaster, and they had been sharing the Gospel for Bridgehouse church in places like Clearwater and other parts of Saint Petersburg. We were surprised we hadn't met them before. They were so glad to see that they weren't alone, and I was glad to see that they were saved! So, we kept walking. I was feeling awful. I had a stomach ache and I had a lot of heaviness on my heart. We walked and found a row of cars. We tracted mostly all of them, and kept walking. We got to South Straub Park where the infamous 'rock' is where a lot of teenagers and different kids like to hang out. Gabe was open air preaching to them. We stopped to listen. The other two in the group got into conversations. Marley and I just sort of stood there. So, after a while, we started praying. There's a lot that goes on at the rock. There's a lot of cursing, smoking, insults, and so on, but there's also a lot of preaching because of Team Hope. Many of them just ridicule what is being said, but there are a few that listen but pretend not to listen. The Gospel gets out every week and they hear the Gospel message. Spent a lot of time there, but I felt awful and didn't want to stay. It was already 9:45 and we were to leave at 10:15.

I handed out 1 tract, and the rest were placed on cars. It wasn't a very productive night, I guess. But, I was praying and telling the Lord of my lack of heart to do the work. This continued on as we started walking towards the Muvico-Baywalk area. We went over there and spent some time, and then we started to head back to where our bus was. I was sort of asking, "Lord, why am I here? What's the point of me being here tonight?" I already know the answer to that - For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure, Philippians... But as I said that, a young man was walking from behind. I let myself stray from the group and allowed room to contact him. I had the fear of man, and I said, Lord, please help me! I knew that the Lord had called me to make contact with just that one person. I talked to him, and I shared the Gospel with him. So I'd asked him, 'So if God judged you today, would you be innocent or guilty?' He said, 'Guilty.' I said, 'So, should God send you to heaven or to hell?' He said, 'Hell,' and I asked him, 'Does that concern you?' He said, 'No.' Then, I'd asked him a further question that in all my Wayofthemaster training, I wasn't trained to do, but I knew it was of the Lord, 'Why doesn't that concern you?' He stopped and thought for maybe 20 seconds, a really long time. He was struggling to give an answer. I refrained from interrupting and allowed him to speak. He said, 'I don't know why, I can't answer that.' He was going to get emotional. The Holy Spirit convicted him of his sin so much that he looked like he was just hit by a ton of bricks. In the following few minutes, I laid out for him the Gospel message about how Jesus Christ was crucified in his stead to pay for his sins, that He would have stood before God and had His wrath poured it on him because of his sin, but instead, it was poured out on Jesus Christ. I told him how Jesus Christ was raised from the dead to buy him back from death, so that he could live for God. I then gave him 'instruction' to start reading at Matthew in his bible to find out who Jesus is. He told me his name was Sam.

I was delighted to speak to him and told him I'd be praying for him. I got back to the rest of the group and boy was I praying for Sam. I pray that God ushers him into the kingdom, forgives his sins, and changes his life for Christ! I felt obselete, and at the time when I felt the most useless, God uses me for the kingdom - the sower and the waterer are nothing compared to the One who makes the seeds grow and salvation is of God alone. Please pray for the Team Hope guys that God would continue to strengthen our loving relationships together.
