Young men protest a place where temptation and darkness are peddled through sexual temptation and lusts by blindfolding themselves. Silent Protest.
I just wish they could share the Gospel...

Hey, I'm one of the guys who stands out in front of Toppers on Thursday nights, and I saw your post on the Red and Black's website and i followed the link to your site.
First off, kudos for taking a stand on the message board, any support we get is greatly appreciate (you can probably imagine the junk we have to put up with).
Second, just to encourage you, we do actually get the share the Gospel regularly. Unfortunately, this just didn't make it into the article (the writer is a believer, but the Red and Black editorial staff is less than sympathetic to us; surprise, surprise). Even though we start out with the blindfolds on, usually by about 12:30 to 1:00 tons of people come up and start talking to us to see what it's all about. We absolutely love conversations (it's actually the bulk of what we do). We havn't taken a straight up evangelical approach simply because Athens is a city full of radical street preachers preaching hell fire and damnation on nearly every corner (not to say that this isn't necessarily true, it's just created a city that is callous to hearing the Gospel straight up). Anyway, in the course of our conversations, we almost always end up getting to share the Gospel with people. It's what we're there for, otherwise it'd be fruitless (not to mention not Biblical).
Anyway, I just wanted to encourage you and let you know that sharing the Gospel is at the core of what we do. Unfortunately, the Red and Black didn't exactly want to give us that. (I will say, however, that we did get some pretty good quotes in there; it's the best we could've hoped for).
